Sample Data?

I need access to an existing family tree that has a large number of family connections so I can really work the API. Is there such a resource available? If so, how do I access it from the API?

Thanks.

Are you using the FamilySearch API? https://familysearch.org/developers. The sandbox doesn't always have a lot of tree data, developers often use the API itself to load data they want to test against. However, there is an experimental utility that will copy stuff out of production for you. Let me know and I might be able to hook you up with that.

If you're not using FamilySearch, Gedcom files are the common data store a lot of apps operate from, and for that you can find sample family tree Gedcom files online or download a free app to build one out. See https://familysearch.org/apps/category/tree-software

OK, this utility has been released! If you're a member of FSDN (FamilySearch Developer Network) you probably caught the news. I will offer details here:

    Utility is here: http://familysearch.github.io/sandbox-data-copy/

    You will need to:

-Authenticate to production and your sandbox by clicking the "Sign In" button for each.
Enter a starting PID from production.
-Select the types of people you would like to have copied from production to your sandbox.
    -Click the "Copy” button.
-The bottom of your screen will show the status and progress in real time as each person is copied over. Green represents success and red represents failure. There is currently a bug that prevents some couple relationships from being copied. For more information, see the bug details.

This utility will not copy living people, and has a max limit of 100 persons per copy.
